Excel Dollar Format

Excel Dollar Format

Learn to use the function of Excel dollar format to convert numbers into currency entries. When you are importing information into a document, or quickly typing in numbers, you may not have the correct format of the currency in place. This function will quickly and easily fix that.

Download the example spreadsheet to test out the Excel dollar format function.

In cell D3, enter:

=dollar(c3)

This tells Excel to pull the number data from cell C3 and change it. Once the salary is formatted in cell D3, grab the corner of that cell and drag it down the column to cell D9. This will apply the formula to all of the numbers in the C column.

As long as the numbers and the dollar currency spot columns remain the same, you don’t need to adjust anything in the formula.
